A complete guide to tablet features and Imagination at a glance (new infographics)
Since we’ve been busy preparing our 2012 annual report, we thought we’d share two brand new infographics we’ve created. The first one – ‘A complete guide to tablet features’ – looks at one of the most iconic consumer electronics products to have come out in the last five years and analyzes the main features one expects to find in such a device.
With some of recent product releases like the new Kindle Fire HD devices from Amazon, the Kobo Arc or Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 – all featuring Imagination’s amazingly fast PowerVR graphics cores – 2012 is shaping up to be one of the most interesting years for the tablet, with more exciting announcements bound to be made in the upcoming future.
As the year is almost coming to a close, we also wanted to celebrate the past 12 months in style. Therefore, the second infographic offers a general overview of Imagination, as we present how the company’s grown, what are its key strengths and opportunities moving forward as well as highlighting some of the partners in our ever-expanding ecosystem.
A complete guide to tablet features
It seems that companies nowadays are determined to make a tablet for everyone. With all the different flavors of operating systems, flexible form factors and rich connectivity options, tablets have become the go-to device for enjoying a wide range of content, from streaming video and reading online publications to console-like gaming and social media interaction. So what are the most popular features of a tablet and how do they influence their usage? We’ve spent some time looking at the topic and put all the answers you need in ‘A complete guide to tablet features’ – our very own first infographic.
Imagination at a glance
Imagination was established in 1985 in Britain and has a long history as an IP provider, with partners amongst the world’s top-20 semiconductor and OEM companies. We license fundamental multimedia, communications and processor technologies and receive a royalty when products using those technologies ship into the market. Imagination is more than a semiconductor IP company. Our focus is increasingly on solutions, and that includes the extensive software and infrastructure required for enabling system-level solutions. Each of our core technologies is built on a smart-innovation. These include the tile-based deferred rendering (TBDR) of PowerVR graphics; the efficient combination of fixed and reconfigurable elements in PowerVR video; the fully programmable heart of our Ensigma connectivity and communications core; the multithreading of our Meta processors; the interoperability of our VoIP technology; and the streamlined approach to handling high-realism images in our Caustic Professional and PowerVR ray tracing.
We also have a bonus track: Digital radio and Pure
Pure is a division of Imagination Technologies Group plc. and continues to be the world’s leading manufacturer of wireless music and internet radio systems, the number one supplier of digital radios in Europe and Australia, and the creator of the Evoke-1S, the world’s most popular and iconic digital radio. Pure leads the way in wireless music systems and cloud services with the Pure Connect portal. Pure radios support all the broadcast standards in the DAB family used across all key markets in Europe and beyond. Designed and engineered in the UK, all of Pure’s products are manufactured with the environment in mind and at ethically audited facilities.
They’ve recently created a couple of infographics to celebrate 10 years of the Evoke – their timeless digital radio and one of the bestselling products in Pure’s range.
